Think fit, not fat. If people stopped focusing on weight loss and, instead, set their goals on being the healthiest they can be, they would find that the weight would come off easier and would stay off. It’s lifelong exercise and a healthful diet that will keep the weight off and lower your risk for disease. People who lose weight by increasing their physical activity and eating more nutritious foods also live longer and are less prone to disease than are people who lose weight without exercising or by going on fad diets. Even if you don’t lose weight, a person who is physically active lives longer than a person who doesn’t. Even if people lose weight, they must continue to eat low-fat foods and exercise daily, or it’s a sure thing they’ll regain the weight and place themselves in a higher disease-risk category.
